Tragedy Strikes RXZ Members 7.0: Two Fatal Accidents Mar Motorcycle Enthusiasts’ Gathering in Terengganu

Terengganu, Malaysia – Motorcycle enthusiasts converged in droves for the RXZ Members 7.0 gathering, celebrating the beloved Yamaha RXZ bike. The event, held on August 22 and 23 at the Terengganu Drag Strip in Gong Badak, was expected to draw over 100,000 participants, surpassing previous years.

However, the festivities were overshadowed by tragedy as several accidents were reported involving participants en route to the venue. A viral video captured a harrowing scene on the highway near Chukai, also known as Kemaman, showing three damaged motorcycles and two men appearing injured on the roadside.

Tragically, two people lost their lives in separate accidents linked to the gathering. Mohd Syukri Shahrudin, a 33-year-old sales executive from Rembau, died after losing control of his motorcycle on Jalan Palong 8 in Bera. According to local police, he was riding at the front of a convoy of approximately 60 motorcycles when the crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. Authorities believe that carelessness may have contributed to the incident.

In another heartbreaking case, 33-year-old nurse Roslinawati Ramli succumbed to serious head injuries after her motorcycle crashed on the East Coast Expressway near Ajil. She was part of a group of 13 motorcycles heading to the event when her Yamaha RXZ allegedly lost control.

In response to the gathering, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced an allocation of RM100,000 for the participants, emphasizing the importance of the motoring community in fostering unity and local economic development. This financial support underscores the government’s recognition of the event’s significance beyond just a motorcycle gathering.

Despite the accidents, attendees and organizers remained optimistic. The RXZ Members 7.0 event offered a range of activities and contests for enthusiasts, highlighting the camaraderie among owners and fans of the iconic motorcycle. With 600 police officers deployed across various districts, including Kuala Terengganu and Besut, authorities aimed to ensure safety throughout the event.

As the motorcycle community mourns the losses, participants and fans remain united in their love for the Yamaha RXZ, a symbol of resilience and passion for many. The gathering not only celebrates the bike but also honors the spirit of friendship among riders across Malaysia.
