Teen Facing Custody Due to Repeated Breach of Bail Terms in Dublin Restaurant Deaths Case

Dublin, Ireland – A 17-year-old boy is facing possible custody for repeatedly violating bail terms in connection with charges of violent disorder at the scene of two deaths at a restaurant on Christmas Eve. Tristan Sherry, 26, died after being shot at Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown, resulting in the death of Jason Hennessy Sr. Mr. Hennessy, 48, passed away 11 days later in the hospital.

The teenager was charged by GardaĆ in January for engaging in violent disorder at the restaurant on December 24, along with three others, by using or threatening violence. The case was brought before the Dublin Children’s Court for a second hearing following a six-week adjournment. The Director of Public Prosecutions’ (DPP) directions were awaited due to a possibility of further charges.

During the hearing, Defense barrister Doireann McDonagh acknowledged the complexity of the case and expressed the boy’s desire to resolve it before turning 18. Garda John Hayes mentioned concerns about the teen breaching bail conditions nine times recently, prompting consideration for tighter restrictions by the judge.

Judge William Aylmer decided to give a warning to the boy, emphasizing the importance of complying with bail conditions to avoid revocation. The youth was urged to be careful, with his understanding confirmed by his response. The case was adjourned for six weeks, with the boy accompanied by his mother and other relatives to the hearing.

The court heard that the teenager handed himself in at a Garda station but made no reply to the charges. The investigation also involved six other individuals, including charges for murder and producing weapons during an offense. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the situation remains complex with security concerns prompting the suppression of certain addresses.

The diverse range of individuals involved in the case underscores the seriousness of the charges and the need for a thorough legal process to address the events that took place at Browne’s Steakhouse. As the investigation continues, the community awaits further developments in this tragic incident that claimed the lives of Tristan Sherry and Jason Hennessy Sr.
