Swift Action by Fire Brigade Averts Catastrophe After Bhosari MIDC LPG Explosion Injures Six Workers

Pune, India — A sudden LPG explosion at Ambika Powder Coating in the Bhosari MIDC industrial area injured six workers on Saturday afternoon, prompting a rapid response from local firefighting teams. The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m., raising alarms about potential further explosions due to multiple LPG cylinders stored on the premises.

Officials from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) noted that their firefighters’ swift actions were crucial in averting a more serious industrial disaster. The timely arrival of fire personnel from various stations effectively contained the blaze and mitigated the threat of additional explosions.

The injured workers have been identified as Dau Kumar, Sudd Jaiswal, Suraj Jato, Rahul Kumar, Rohit Kumar, and Sunil Kumar, the latter of whom sustained serious injuries. First responders provided immediate medical assistance on-site before transporting the workers to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Vijaykumar Kharote, the additional commissioner of PCMC, emphasized the ongoing issue of industrial safety non-compliance, which continues to be a significant factor in such accidents. He underscored the necessity for regular safety inspections, maintenance of equipment, and comprehensive training for workers, insisting that safety measures must be prioritized above all else to prevent future incidents.

Approximately 30 firefighters, led by deputy fire officers Gautam Ingawale and Dilip Gaikwad, engaged in firefighting and rescue operations. Their quick mobilization included personnel from the Pimpri main fire station, Nehrunagar sub-station, and Bhosari sub-station, demonstrating effective emergency management.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the explosion could have been triggered by a leak in the LPG system, resulting in a vapor cloud blast. PCMC officials are currently conducting a thorough investigation to establish the exact cause of the incident and ensure accountability.

The local industrial community remains on alert following this incident, highlighting the critical need for stringent safety protocols in workplaces that handle hazardous materials. Community leaders are calling for increased awareness and adherence to safety regulations to safeguard the welfare of workers and the surrounding area.

As the injured workers recover, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers present in industrial environments and the importance of maintaining a culture of safety among all workers and management in the sector.
