Deputies said the driver was hospitalized after the early morning crash.
CYPRESS, Texas — People inside a Cypress rental home escaped injury after a driver who had been shot several times crashed into the property early Friday, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash was reported about 12:30 a.m. in the 19700 block of Mountain Dale Drive. Deputies arrived to find the wounded driver in the vehicle and the home badly damaged.
Deputies pulled the man from the car and started CPR before he was taken to a hospital. Officials said he had been shot several times, but they did not release his condition, identity or where he may have been shot.
A man at the scene said he was renting the home through Airbnb. Residents who were inside when the vehicle struck the house were not hurt, according to reports from the scene.
The crash turned a shooting investigation into a property damage case as well. Deputies were examining how the vehicle left the road and whether the driver lost control because of his injuries.
No arrests had been announced Saturday. Investigators had not released information about a suspect, motive or whether the shooting was tied to the neighborhood where the crash happened.
