ATLANTA, GA – Authorities have charged seven individuals in connection with a tragic shooting last July that resulted in the deaths of two 13-year-old boys and the injury of an 11-year-old boy. The incident, which occurred during a birthday celebration on Spark Street, has been linked to gang-related violence.
The young victims, Jacoby Davis and Lamont Freeman, were killed in the crossfire of a gang retaliation incident. Freeman, who was celebrating his 13th birthday, tragically lost his life shortly after reaching the milestone. Dontavious Davis, the 11-year-old, was wounded but survived the attack.
During a press conference, investigators revealed that the deadly shooting stemmed from a local rapper’s decision to film a music video in a rival gang’s territory. This act of perceived provocation led to a series of violent events, culminating in the fatal attack on the children.
The Atlanta Police Department has identified the attack as orchestrated by a high-ranking member of the Goodfellows gang, who managed to direct the operation from behind bars using a smuggled cell phone. The suspects, acting on these instructions, targeted the apartment complex where the birthday celebration was taking place, although the children were not the intended targets.
The individuals arrested in connection with the shooting have been named as Keonte Sanders, Richard Hollis, Reginald Thomas Dickinson Mobley, Marcus Crawford, Dawn Crawford, and Ali Caldwell. The final arrests were made on Tuesday, as police continue to crack down on gang-related violence in the city.
Atlanta police have vowed to relentlessly pursue those responsible for the violence, particularly targeting the Goodfellows gang, which is known for its violent activities throughout the city. Authorities are determined to maintain safety and suppress gang violence.
The investigation remains active, with a $50,000 reward offered for any information that could lead to further arrests or insights into the case. As the community grapples with the loss of two young lives, the focus remains on bringing those accountable to justice.
