Portland, Maine – A Portland man, Abdirahman Mahmoud, 36, was arrested and charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Raoul Mapendo Tshiyuka, 30.
The incident occurred when Portland police responded to a report of an injured man at 263 St. John St. Tshiyuka was found and taken to Maine Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Chief Medical Examiner determined that Tshiyuka’s death was due to a gunshot wound, leading to its classification as a homicide.
Following police investigations, Mahmoud was identified as a person of interest, and his vehicle was located by South Portland officers. Subsequently, a search warrant was executed at 66 Wellesley Estates in Portland with the assistance of the Southern Maine Regional SWAT team. Mahmoud, while the search was ongoing, contacted authorities and was apprehended without incident at 224 Ocean Ave. He is currently being held without bail at the Cumberland County Jail.
