Perry Community Unites to Mourn the Loss of Ahmir Jolliff, Victim of School Shooting

PERRY, Iowa – The Perry community and beyond came together to pay their respects to 11-year-old Ahmir Jolliff, who tragically lost his life in a shooting at Perry High School last week. Hundreds of mourners gathered at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for his funeral, reflecting the impact and reach of this heartbreaking loss.

Pastor Andrea Brownlee delivered a heartfelt eulogy, describing Ahmir as having a spirit that transcended his young age. She shared stories of how he lived his life, always on the move and involved in activities like choir, band, soccer, and video games. In addition to Ahmir, seven other individuals were injured in the Perry shooting, including the school principal, Dan Marburger.
