Teen Suspect in Natrona County High School Girl Murder Case Given $1 Million Bond

CASPER, Wyo. – A teenager in Natrona County appeared in court on Wednesday with his bond set at $1 million after being charged with felonious first-degree murder and misdemeanor stalking in connection with the tragic death of a 17-year-old girl from Natrona County High School.

The victim, Lenea Brown, was found with a gunshot wound to her head early Tuesday morning on Indian Wells Road. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital but sadly, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

According to police, the suspect, Eavan Castaner, had been in a previous relationship with Brown before the incident. Investigations revealed concerning messages and missed calls from the suspect to the victim, indicating possible stalking behavior.

Reports indicate that Castaner had been carrying a pistol for several days before the shooting. Witnesses recall attempts to stop him from leaving a friend’s residence before the tragic event occurred at Buckboard Park. Castaner’s friend had even tried to physically restrain him, fearing the worst.

After the shooting, Castaner fled to a nearby resident’s house where he hid the weapon before surrendering to the authorities. Police determined that the act was premeditated, leading to Castaner’s arrest and subsequent drug and alcohol testing.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock, marking the second time in recent weeks that a teenager has been arrested in connection with the death of a minor. The court proceedings are ongoing, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Thursday to further investigate the case and determine the appropriate course of action for the suspect.

The details surrounding the shooting and the events leading up to it paint a chilling picture of the consequences of unresolved conflicts and the potential dangers of escalating situations. The impact of this tragedy on the families involved and the community at large serves as a stark reminder of the need for early intervention and support in turbulent relationships to prevent such devastating outcomes.
