Boston, MA – A New Hampshire man is facing serious charges following a road rage incident that occurred in Boston’s Roxbury area in early February, resulting in severe injuries to another individual. Authorities identified the accused as Aaron Olsen, 36, from Manchester, who now faces multiple charges including assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and disorderly conduct.
The altercation, which has garnered significant attention due to the brutal nature of the attack and its capture on dashcam video, took place at approximately 2:15 p.m. on February 5. The location was pinpointed at the intersection of Melnea Cass Boulevard and Hampden Street, a normally busy area where the incident escalated quickly.
According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, Olsen is alleged to have punched the 49-year-old victim, subsequently taking him down to the pavement and continuing the assault while the victim was prone. The DA’s description of the incident included Olsen utilizing a leg sweep to knock the victim to the ground, where he then held him down and struck him multiple times. The victim’s head repeatedly hit the pavement during the sequence.
The assault resulted in significant injuries for the victim, who had to be hospitalized. Medical reports indicated that he suffered from a concussion along with six broken bones in his face, which included two broken orbital bones and a fractured cheekbone.
Olsen initially defended his actions to investigators, claiming self-defense and alleging that the victim had struck him first after exiting his vehicle. However, review of the dashcam footage by investigators contradicted his account, showing Olsen as the primary aggressor and that the victim had not exited his car before the altercation.
