13 Dead, 20 Missing Campers in Kerr County Flood Disaster

KERRVILLE, TX – As Kerr County grapples with the aftermath of severe flooding, emergency crews are intensifying their search and rescue operations. The Guadalupe River’s overflow wreaked havoc on Lois Hayes Park, which was set to host a July 4th event.

The park’s devastation includes a twisted semi-truck trailer and a displaced gazebo roof, highlighting the flood’s intensity. Although the river has receded, parts of the park remain submerged, with debris scattered throughout.

Locals have started to inspect the damage, while helicopters and planes from the Coast Guard and other agencies conduct low-altitude searches for survivors. Rescuers are working tirelessly, sometimes airlifting people due to flooded roads.

Authorities have confirmed 13 deaths, with fears of more casualties. The search continues for missing individuals, with places like Camp Mystic being focal points, yet the number of missing remains uncertain due to disrupted communications.

With more rain expected, the risk of further flooding persists. City officials and the governor are slated to deliver updates, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and support in this challenging time.
