Mobile Man Charged in Shooting After Controversial Police Raid Resulting in Brother’s Death

MOBILE, Alabama – A young man who was at the center of a police raid that resulted in the death of his brother last November is now facing new charges in connection to a recent shooting in Mobile, AL. DeAngelo Lee Adjessom, 19, along with another individual, was arrested on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in a shooting that resulted in one man being injured. The incident took place on Delmar Drive last Saturday night, and also led to drug trafficking charges for Adjessom.

The shooting, which took place around 4:20 a.m., resulted in one man being found with a gunshot wound. The victim reported that he was in a vehicle when it was fired upon near the intersection of Delmar Drive and Pleasant Valley Road. The injured man was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Additionally, an unoccupied building and vehicle in the area were also struck by gunfire.

This recent arrest comes after a tragic incident last November, where Adjessom’s 16-year-old brother, Randall Adjessom, was fatally shot by police during a raid. The raid was conducted to execute a warrant for DeAngelo Adjessom’s arrest, who was suspected of drug-related activities.

The death of Randall Adjessom sparked widespread outrage in the community, prompting the city’s mayor to impose restrictions on predawn police raids and initiate an independent review of police procedures related to the use of force.

DeAngelo Adjessom had been out on bond awaiting trial for previous drug and weapons charges at the time of his most recent arrest. These new charges add another layer to an already complex and tragic situation, shedding light on ongoing issues in the Mobile community and its law enforcement.
