Missouri AG Launches Investigation into School District After Violent Attack on High School Student

St. Louis, Missouri – Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has launched an investigation into a school district following a violent attack on a teenager in St. Louis. Bailey’s office stated that the Hazelwood School District is being scrutinized for its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs in relation to a recent brutal assault that garnered attention on social media.

Bailey expressed concerns about the safety failures that occurred during the violent incident and emphasized the need for the school district to explain the role of their radical programs in such situations. In a letter to Hazelwood School District’s Superintendent, Bailey raised alarm about how the district may have prioritized political narratives over student safety, violating Missouri law in the process.

The Attorney General highlighted decisions made by the school district back in 2020, such as adopting a “Statement of Solidarity” that led to actions like treating students differently based on race and reassessing the district’s relationship with local law enforcement. Furthermore, Bailey criticized the school district’s removal of uniformed police officers from schools, noting their absence during the incident in which the victim was severely injured.

Bailey emphasized the importance of investigating whether the school district’s actions violated Missouri’s Human Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination and ensures individuals’ rights in public settings. He demanded records related to bullying, anti-bullying policies, harassment, and the decision to remove law enforcement from schools. Additionally, Bailey called for the suspect in the assault to be tried as an adult and potentially face murder charges if the offense meets the criteria.

The Attorney General’s investigation aims to hold the school district accountable for its handling of the situation and to ensure that student safety is prioritized. Fox News Digital reached out to Hazelwood East High School and the Hazelwood School District for comment on the ongoing investigation. The victim, identified as Kaylee, suffered severe injuries, including a fractured skull and brain bleeding, resulting in her being in a critical condition.

As the investigation unfolds, Bailey continues to advocate for justice and accountability in the wake of the disturbing attack on the St. Louis teenager.
