gypsy rose blanchard opens up about the traumatic childhood that led to her mother’s murder in first tv interview since release from prison

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who was released from prison after serving seven years of her 10-year sentence for her role in her mother’s murder, opened up in her first TV interview since her release.

Blanchard claimed that she murdered her mother, Clauddine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard, because it was the “only way out” of the abusive situation she was in. Dee Dee had made Gypsy pretend to be terminally ill for years, leading to Gypsy’s guilty plea in the killing.

During the interview, Gypsy detailed the abuse she endured at the hands of her mother and expressed that she did not want her dead, but felt it was the only way to escape. She also addressed her feelings towards her accomplice, Nicholas ‘Nick’ Godejohn, who remains incarcerated for the murder.

Gypsy also revealed that she was addicted to painkillers and high when the murder was planned. She emphasized that she does not blame drugs or make excuses for her actions.

After her release from prison, Blanchard told People magazine that she is “ready for freedom” and shares her story as a cautionary tale for others in similar situations. Despite her troubled past, she expressed that she does not believe her mother was a monster, citing her own struggles and demons.
