Grimes County Sheriff’s Office alerts residents of upcoming test blast at Lignite Silos in Carlos area

Grimes County, Texas – Residents in the Carlos area of Grimes County may hear loud explosions on Thursday, April 25. The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning on behalf of the Gibbons Creek Environmental Redevelopment Group (GCERG) regarding upcoming test blasts at the Lignite Silos.

The test blast, scheduled for around 5 p.m., is part of preparations for the demolition of the silos. GCERG plans to conduct four delayed blasts milliseconds apart, utilizing approximately 50 pounds of dynamite. It’s important to note that this test blast is intended for assessment purposes and will not cause the silos to collapse.
