Four Teens Charged with Capital Murder in Deadly Houston Store Robbery

Houston, Texas – Four teenagers are now facing capital murder charges in connection with a fatal robbery that occurred at a southeast Houston convenience store last month. The youths, aged 14, 14, 16, and 16, have been referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department. The identities and booking photos of the suspects have not been disclosed.

The four teenagers are accused of the murder of 42-year-old Steven Mendoza De Luna at a convenience store along the Gulf Freeway and Monroe Road. On the night of March 20, De Luna was working when three suspects entered the store and attempted to rob it. During the robbery, De Luna was shot and tragically pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear whether De Luna, who reportedly had a gun, was able to defend himself.

Authorities revealed that the suspects fled the scene in their vehicle after the shooting. Fortunately, no customers were present in the store at the time of the incident. Following intensive investigation, all four suspects involved in the deadly robbery were identified.

Approximately a week after the incident, two 14-year-old suspects were apprehended, followed by the arrest of the two 16-year-olds earlier this month.
