Family of St. Louis Teen Attacked in Viral Video Gives Update on Her Condition

St. Louis, Missouri – The family of Kaylee Gain, a 16-year-old teen viciously assaulted in a viral video, recently provided an update on her condition, revealing the long and uncertain road to recovery ahead. The brutal attack, captured on video, showed Gain being repeatedly slammed onto the pavement near Hazelwood East High School in Spanish Lake, Missouri, just outside of St. Louis.

According to family attorney Bryan Kaemmerer, Gain sustained a fractured skull during the assault, leading to life-threatening brain swelling and bleeding. Since the incident on March 8, Gain has not regained consciousness, as reported by Fox 2.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested the following day in connection with the assault and is currently facing assault charges in St. Louis County Family Court. The attack sparked outrage, prompting Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey to call for the suspect to be tried as an adult and potentially charged with murder if the offense escalated to a homicide. Bailey emphasized the need for reform within the juvenile justice system to address such issues effectively.

Friends and family of Gain have launched two GoFundMe campaigns to raise funds for her medical expenses and to provide updates on her condition. The family expressed gratitude for the medical staff working tirelessly to aid in Gain’s recovery, acknowledging the challenging journey that lies ahead.

The incident has led to calls for accountability within the juvenile justice system, with many expressing concern over the escalating violence among young people in Missouri. Gain’s family remains hopeful for her recovery, as they navigate the challenges ahead with resilience and determination.
