The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office reported that the shooting was linked to an illegal gun sale and robbery gone wrong. Video evidence showed suspects fleeing with weapons. Police quickly arrested several individuals, including three minors and an 18-year-old named Jeremiah Upsen, who appeared in court the following day.

Victims identified include Chafee Sturm and Alonzo Garth, both 18 and from Spotsylvania County. A third victim, aged 20, has not been publicly named until family notification.
