RIVERDALE, GA – A deadly shooting at a Circle K gas station on Highway 85 in Riverdale has left the local community in mourning. Clayton County Police are on the hunt for a suspect who fatally shot a store employee late Friday night.
The tragic incident unfolded when a masked man brandishing a firearm entered the store, demanding money. According to police, the suspect managed to fire a shot through a protective glass, fatally wounding the clerk on duty.
Marishka Hudson, a customer who visited the gas station the following day, expressed her disbelief. She noted the lack of any visible signs of the previous night’s violence, highlighting the shock of the community as they grapple with the loss.
Police responded to the scene around 11 p.m. on Friday after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim with a gunshot wound to the back. The suspect fled the scene in a black Dodge Journey SUV, which had no license plates.
Though authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, he has been identified by employees and patrons as Muhammad. Regular customers described him as a friendly and generous individual who often went out of his way to help those in need.
One customer, who wished to remain anonymous for safety reasons, shared fond memories of Muhammad’s kindness, noting how he would often assist customers from his own pocket. “Muhammad was a great guy,” the customer lamented, expressing sorrow over the senseless violence that claimed his life.
Community members have been vocal in their grief, emphasizing Muhammad’s positive impact and urging individuals to seek honest work rather than resorting to violence. Many described him as a patient and laid-back person who was dedicated to his family and community.
Clayton County Police have yet to apprehend the suspect, who remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities urge anyone with information on the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to come forward and assist in the investigation.
