GRANTS PASS, Oregon – The chilling revelation of a convicted double killer claiming to have fed the bodies of her victims to her pet pigs has left both the public and law enforcement bewildered.
Susan Monica, previously known as Steven Buchanan, is currently serving a 50-year sentence in an Oregon women’s prison after being found guilty of first-degree murder in the slayings of two handymen who worked on their Wilmer farm. The 59-year-old and the U.S. Navy veteran was convicted of the macabre crimes in 2015.
During her trial, Monica boasted that there were “17 other victims” – a harrowing declaration that has left families of other potential victims anxious for answers. The first victim, 59-year-old Stephen Delicino, was hired in 2012 to work on the 20-acre farm purchased by Monica in 1991. Later, the handyman’s body was found rotting in plastic bags on the desolate property, after a confrontation resulted in his accidental death.
Another victim, 56-year-old Robert Haney, was hired a year later but disappeared without a trace until his son reported him missing. This led to the shocking discovery that Monica had allegedly disposed of his body after claiming he had left the farm.
Investigators made a gruesome discovery when they found a human leg on the farm, leading to Monica’s chilling confession that she had put Haney “out of his misery” and allowed her pet pigs to devour his remains. She callously admitted that she did not value human life and revealed her twisted belief that the planet would be better off without humans.
