Bowling Green Man Receives Two Life Sentences for Murders of Woman and Unborn Child

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – A Bowling Green man has been sentenced to two consecutive life terms for the murders of a 23-year-old woman and her unborn child last spring. Jimmy Cole, 30, pleaded guilty to the charges, which then “merged into the two counts of murder” he was convicted of, according to a press release from Wood County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Dobson.

The 23-year-old woman, Alicia Rosa, died from four stab wounds on March 30, 2023, and her unborn son, Amor, died as a result of her death. Cole’s defense attempted to argue that the two separate murder charges should be merged into one, claiming that Amor was not legally viable when he died. However, Prosecutor Dobson argued that viability was not necessary to the murder statute, stating that “evidence showed that the infant was 20-21 weeks old and was alive and healthy at the time of the stabbing.”

The law in Ohio dictates that a conviction on a murder charge carries a life penalty with the possibility of parole after 15 years. With Cole set to serve the sentences consecutively, he will be eligible for parole after 30 years.

Judge Kuhlman, who presided over the case, stated that “this offense was horrific and the fact that Alicia’s parents had to find her body in that state is unimaginable.” He then expressed hope that the resolution would bring some comfort to the family and serve as a first step in their healing process.

In conclusion, Jimmy Cole, 30, has been sentenced to two consecutive life terms for the murders of Alicia Rosa and her unborn child. The resolution of the case is seen as a step toward healing for the family, but the tragic loss will never be forgotten.
