Fugitives accused of double murder in Idaho manhunt now in custody

Boise, Idaho – Two escaped convicts are now facing murder charges after allegedly killing two individuals while on the run, according to authorities. Skylar Meade and Nicholas Umphenour were apprehended following an incident at a hospital where three officers were injured in an ambush and shooting, as reported by the Boise police.

Police Chief Ron Winegar revealed that Meade and Umphenour are suspects in the deaths of two men in northern Idaho, outside city limits. Handcuffs worn by Meade during his escape were discovered at the crime scene, along with the vehicle used in their getaway.

“The motive behind their actions remains unclear at this time,” explained Winegar. Meade fled a medical center just outside downtown Boise, while Umphenour engaged in a shootout near the emergency room before their arrest.

Meade, a convicted felon, had evaded a 20-year prison sentence stemming from a 2017 shooting incident. He has a history of criminal offenses, including possession of a controlled substance and grand theft. Umphenour, described as an associate of Meade, has not had his age or criminal background disclosed by authorities.

The duo’s escape and subsequent crime spree have sparked concerns and raised questions about public safety and law enforcement protocols. Observers are awaiting further details to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the violent events. Authorities continue to investigate the case with the aim of ensuring justice for the victims and holding the perpetrators accountable.
