Family of Tucson Road Rage Victim Files Wrongful Death Claim Against Shooter and Wife in Fatal Confrontation

Tucson, Arizona – The family of a man who was fatally shot in a road rage incident in Tucson has taken legal action against the alleged shooter and his wife. Dr. Jeffrey Honer, 47, was killed by Jason Jameson, 41, following a traffic dispute on the far northeast side of Tucson. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department reported that Honer, who was unarmed, was shot by Jameson, who claimed self-defense.

Jameson was arrested and is currently facing a second-degree murder charge, although he is out on bond. The widow of Dr. Honer, Alyssa Honer, has enlisted the legal representation of attorney Carlo Mercaldo to file a wrongful death claim in Pima County Superior Court against Jameson and his wife, Ekaterina Jameson.

According to Mercaldo, their investigation suggests that Dr. Honer was struck by Jameson and posed no imminent threat at the time of the shooting. The claim alleges that Jameson acted unreasonably and should have known better than to use lethal force against Dr. Honer, who was attempting to retreat from the altercation.

The incident occurred while Dr. Honer was traveling between patient appointments with two nurses. Jameson reportedly became hostile and aggressive towards their convoy, leading to a confrontation that escalated into violence. Despite attempts by Jameson and the nurses to assist Dr. Honer after the shooting, he succumbed to his injuries sustained from the bullet.

The family’s claim accuses Jameson of negligence and wrongful death, emphasizing that Dr. Honer had a promising future ahead of him before his life was tragically cut short. Mercaldo expressed the devastating impact of Dr. Honer’s untimely death on his distraught wife, underscoring the unnecessary nature of the violent altercation that led to the loss of a valuable life.

A preliminary hearing in the criminal case against Jameson is scheduled, while he has 20 days to respond to the civil complaint filed by the Honer family. The legal proceedings seek to hold Jameson accountable for his actions and seek justice for the wrongful death of Dr. Jeffrey Honer.
