Kalyan, India – Police in the city of Kalyan have determined that a 22-year-old man allegedly murdered his 14-year-old girlfriend, a Class 8 student, before taking his own life. The girl had gone missing from her home on January 14, and on the same day, her boyfriend was found dead after jumping in front of a local train. The girl’s decomposed body was later discovered in a dilapidated chawl room after locals reported a foul smell in the area.
Authorities found the boyfriend’s mobile phone near the girl’s body, leading them to the conclusion that he had committed suicide on the same day as the girl’s disappearance. Investigations by two different police stations established that the boyfriend had killed the girl before taking his own life.
While awaiting the post-mortem report, police have revealed that the boyfriend confessed to his father via a video call before his suicide, admitting to the murder of the girl. The inquiry has also uncovered the suspected use of acid to destroy the girl’s body, with authorities examining whether strangulation was also involved.
The victim’s family had recently moved to Kalyan from Ambernath, where she had met her boyfriend, and they were aware of their relationship. The girl’s friend also revealed to the police that she was deeply in love with her boyfriend, despite recent disagreements between them.
Further investigation disclosed that the couple’s relationship had been ongoing for one and a half years and that the boyfriend financially supported the girl. However, recent conflicts arose after the girl’s brother allegedly assaulted another boy for being involved with her. This led to suspicions of infidelity and intentions to end the relationship, potentially leading to the tragic events that unfolded.
CCTV footage showed the couple entering a dilapidated room together before the boyfriend was seen leaving alone with a change of clothes. The girl’s body was discovered six days later, turning a missing person case into a murder investigation. The deputy commissioner of police confirmed that the boyfriend had confessed to the murder during his final call to his family, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the investigations.
