Woman Arrested in Alleged Plot to Murder Boyfriend with Co-Worker in Suburban Bridgeview

Bridgeview, Illinois – A woman from Bridgeview, Agnieszka Rydzewski, has been arrested for allegedly conspiring with a co-worker with whom she was in a relationship to kill her boyfriend. The victim, Arturo Cantu, was shot twice as he left his apartment on Wednesday morning.

Rydzewski, 33, is facing charges of solicitation to commit murder in connection with Cantu’s death, according to a spokesperson from Bridgeview village. Meanwhile, Anthony Calderon, 20, of Bedford Park, has been charged with first-degree murder in relation to the shooting.

Prosecutors revealed that Calderon, who was allegedly in a relationship with Cantu’s girlfriend, confronted Cantu as he was putting items into his car before work. Despite Cantu’s attempt to defend himself with a pocket knife, he was shot multiple times by the suspect wearing a blue surgical mask.

Surveillance video captured Calderon arriving and leaving the scene in his red car, which was later located by investigators at a nearby McDonald’s where he worked with the victim’s girlfriend. Calderon was apprehended at his home and confessed to the killing, leading officers to the murder weapon.

Cantu’s family described him as a hardworking man and a devoted father of two children, devastated by the tragic loss. During a court appearance, Cantu’s parents expressed their desire for justice for their son.

Calderon has been denied pre-trial release and is scheduled to appear in court again next Tuesday. Rydzewski is set to have her initial hearing on Sunday morning, as the investigation into the murder continues.
