Powder Springs, Georgia – A tragic incident unfolded in Powder Springs resulting in the death of a teenager and the arrest of another on murder charges. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in a neighborhood located off Shipp Road.
According to Powder Springs police, the deadly altercation originated from a dispute between two groups of teenagers that escalated from online interactions to a physical confrontation. Captain Jason Holcombe of the Powder Springs Police Department explained that the conflict turned violent when one of the teens produced a semi-automatic firearm during the altercation.
Tragically, the firearm discharged during the altercation, resulting in a fatal injury to Fabrice “Mathew” Robelin, a 19-year-old young man known to his loved ones as Mathew. The victim’s family mourns the loss of their beloved son and emphasizes the need for young individuals to refrain from resorting to violence.
The alleged perpetrator, an 18-year-old named Coledye Warnock, was apprehended and charged with murder following the incident. Authorities report that after the shooting, Warnock fled into a nearby wooded area before seeking refuge in a nearby residence, where he disclosed his involvement in the tragic event.
Despite the devastating loss of their son, Mathew’s family recalls his recent high school graduation and completion of his first college semester. Mathew’s mother, Margalie Cherenfant, urges the youth to exercise restraint and avoid resorting to violence, highlighting the dangers associated with young individuals possessing firearms.
