Kyiv, Ukraine — The Crimean Bridge, a key structure linking Russia and annexed Crimea, sustained significant damage following a recent underwater operation conducted by Ukraine’s Security Service. Officials revealed that two explosive charges, each weighing 1,100 kilograms, were strategically placed to target the bridge’s main supports.
Vasyl Malyuk, head of the Security Service, detailed the operation during a press conference, stating, “This marks the third time we have employed explosives against the bridge.” He emphasized the importance of this operation, suggesting it heralds a shift in tactical approaches. Malyuk refrained from disclosing further specifics, citing operational security concerns.
The Security Service’s previous attacks on the bridge have included a ground assault in 2022, utilizing a vehicle loaded with the equivalent of 21 tons of TNT, and a strike in 2023 involving drones named “Sea Baby.” Each attack has been aimed at undermining infrastructure that is crucial for military logistics, according to military officials.
