According to the State Department, eight U.S. citizens were killed by drug overdoses or suspected homicides in the city of Medellin in the final months of 2023.
The State Department advisory specifically cautioned against using online dating apps, as criminals have been using these platforms to lure victims into meeting in public places, only to later assault and rob them.
