Two Arrested in Fatal Shooting Outside Frisco Walmart

Frisco, Texas – Frisco police have made significant progress in the case of a fatal shooting that took place in a Walmart parking lot in 2023. The incident resulted in the death of Dung Doan and injury of Army veteran Zachary Lowe, and now, two suspects, Jhirrell Harris and Stephanie Gayden, have been arrested in connection with the crime.

Authorities in Frisco were able to apprehend Harris and Gayden, thanks in part to an anonymous tip from the public months ago. The suspects were identified as the individuals responsible for the shooting that claimed Doan’s life and left Lowe injured outside the Walmart on Preston Road.

Jhirrell Harris, 42, was located in Ouachita County Jail in Monroe, Louisiana, where he was already being held on a separate offense. He has been charged with capital murder in relation to Doan’s death, as well as aggravated robbery and assault in Lowe’s case. Harris is currently in custody without bond and awaiting extradition to Collin County.

Stephanie Gayden, 37, was also arrested and is being held in the Collin County Jail. She faces charges of capital murder, with her bond set at $1,000,000. The swift action by law enforcement has brought some closure to the families of the victims, but the impact of the senseless violence remains profound.

In a statement, Frisco Police Assistant Chief Darren Stevens described the acts of violence committed by Harris and Gayden as tragic and devastating for both the Doan and Lowe families. The families continue to grapple with the loss of their loved ones and the sense of security that has been shattered by this incident.

Following the shooting, family members revealed that Doan had immigrated to the U.S. from Vietnam in 2022 and was a father of two children. The community in Frisco remains on alert, as the investigation into the shooting at the Walmart parking lot continues to unfold, shedding light on the impact of gun violence in the area.
