Tragic Plane Crash Claims Lives of Pilot from Springfield, Father, and Daughters off Bequia Coast

SPRINGFIELD, NJ – A tragic plane crash in Bequia claimed the lives of four individuals, including a Springfield native who was the pilot of the aircraft. The crash also took the lives of a father and his two young daughters, according to local authorities. The incident occurred when the plane, en route to St. Lucia, experienced difficulties shortly after takeoff from the J.F. Mitchell Airport in Paget Farm.

The bodies of the pilot, identified as Robert Sachs, as well as Christian Klepser, 51, and his daughters, Madita Klepser, 10, and Annik Klepser, 12, were recovered from the plane and the ocean by the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard. Fishermen and divers from Paget Farm also rushed to the scene to assist with the rescue efforts.

All four bodies were transported to St. Vincent aboard the Coast Guard vessel, where the causes of death will be determined by the Kingstown Mortuary. The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force expressed condolences to those affected by the tragedy, while also noting that an investigation is ongoing.

Robert Sachs, also known as Bob Sachs, co-owned a scuba tour agency called Dive Bequia in Port Elizabeth, Saint Vincent, and the Grenadines alongside his wife, Cathy. Meanwhile, Christian Klepser, known on stage as Christian Oliver, was an actor recognized for his roles in various movies.
