Clovis, California — Authorities have arrested two teenagers in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Caleb Quick outside a McDonald’s last month. The incident occurred on the night of April 23 at the fast-food restaurant located at the intersection of Willow and Nees avenues.
Witnesses reported seeing a suspect dressed in black trailing Quick for approximately 13 minutes before the shooting unfolded. The violence erupted outside the establishment, shocking the local community and prompting an urgent police investigation. For days, leads in the case had stagnated until law enforcement released surveillance footage and images of a white Tesla, believed to be the getaway vehicle.
On Tuesday, police executed a search warrant at a residence just a mile from the McDonald’s. While there, they discovered the white Tesla parked in a garage. Officers apprehended a teenage girl who was at the residence but later released her without charges. She was subsequently arrested following arrangements made by her private attorney, who facilitated the process of turning her in to authorities.
A male suspect, also a teenager, voluntarily surrendered at approximately 3:30 p.m. on the same day. His family’s residence was later cordoned off with green tape, and a note affixed to the door requested privacy, indicating that the family would not be making any public statements regarding the case.
Investigators had been actively pursuing leads and were prepared to make two arrests when the teenage girl turned herself in. Both suspects have been publicly identified, but their names have not been released due to their ages.
As the investigation continues, community members remain in shock from the violent event that claimed Quick’s life. Friends and family described him as a kind and promising young man, leaving behind a grieving family and friends searching for answers and justice. The situation underscores the need for ongoing dialogue around youth violence and community safety.
Authorities have urged anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward as they work closely to piece together the events leading up to the tragic shooting.
