Tragic Domestic Incident in Jersey City: Mother and Two Children Fatally Stabbed, Suspect in Custody

Jersey City, NJ — A tragic episode of domestic violence has shaken a community in Jersey City as two children and a woman were found fatally stabbed in a local apartment. Authorities arrested 31-year-old Napoleon Romero-Anduray in connection with the deaths, charging him with triple homicide late Thursday, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Responding to a distress call, police and emergency services converged on a residential building located in the Heights section of the city. The area was immediately cordoned off, stretching from Liberty Avenue to JFK Boulevard. Neighbors described a chilling scene, with police tape encircling the lobby and visible bloodstains marking the staircase.

Within the confines of the apartment, the grim discovery was made. Police identified the victims as 31-year-old Luisa Urbano and her two children, 9-year-old Juan Martin Urbano and 5-year-old Diana Ramirez. Luisa Urbano was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eyewitness Jay Perine, a resident of the building, recounted the arrest of Romero-Anduray, who was identified as Urbano’s boyfriend. According to Perine, it was evident that Romero-Anduray was in a distressed state and appeared intent on harming himself. “He was just out of it. You could tell that he just didn’t, he was just out of it. He wanted to hurt himself,” Perine explained.

Further detailing the dynamics observed within the family, Perine expressed his shock, noting that there were no prior signs of discord. “They seemed like a happy family. In the summertime, they had cookouts, there was music,” he recalled. Perine stressed the abruptness of the incident, describing Romero-Anduray’s day-to-day routine as ordinary, with him regularly leaving for work.

In a public statement, Mayor Steven Fulop addressed the incident, confirming that Romero-Anduray had attempted to stab himself. Furthermore, the mayor emphasized the availability of chaplains and social workers to provide necessary support to the affected neighbors.

Authorities have yet to release specific details regarding the nature of the relationship between Urbano and Romero-Anduray or the circumstances leading up to the tragic event. The community remains in mourning as neighbors and local residents grapple with the harrowing incident that has left profound sorrow and unanswered questions in its wake.

This case highlights ongoing concerns surrounding domestic violence and its potential to escalate into tragic outcomes. It serves as a somber reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for supportive networks for individuals in tumultuous relationships.

As investigations continue, local officials are urging anyone with additional information or insights into the family’s circumstances to come forward, in hopes of piecing together the events that led to this devastating crime. The community, while shaken, strives to recover and reinforce its commitment to safety and mutual support in the aftermath of such a profound loss.
