ROCHESTER, New York – A tragic shooting occurred on Sunday at Maplewood Park in Rochester, resulting in one fatality and injuries to six others during a large gathering.
Authorities arrived at the scene after receiving reports of an active shooter around 6:20 p.m. The Rochester Police Department confirmed that multiple individuals were found with gunshot wounds amidst what appeared to be a community event.
Captain Greg Bello of the Rochester Police stated that the deceased was an adult in their 20s. Additionally, one individual sustained life-threatening injuries, while five others were hospitalized with less severe injuries. The identity of the person killed has not been disclosed as officials are in the process of notifying next of kin.
