Teenager on Bail for Violent Attack Commits Brutal Gang-Related Slaying

Ipswich, Suffolk – A teenager awaiting sentencing for a brutal gang-related street killing was previously on bail for another violent attack. Alfie Hammett, 19, is currently in custody for the stabbing of 18-year-old Ray Quigley in front of shoppers in Ipswich in January of last year. He had been living in Ipswich after being banned from Norwich under police bail conditions following a previous assault five months earlier.

Hammett admitted to assault occasioning grievous bodily harm in relation to the earlier offense, and is expected to be sentenced next month as well. The violent incidents are part of an ongoing gang feud in the region, with a growing sense of danger and tension.

Raymond James Quigley was murdered in a horrifying high street attack on January 17th of last year. He had some association with a gang in Norfolk, which likely led to his untimely death. The premeditated murder was fueled by a deep-rooted rivalry between the two rival groups.

Surveillance footage showed the victim fatally wounded, staggering into a store where he bled to death. Hammett’s involvement was revealed after his father confronted him about the incident, prompting a closer investigation into his activities and whereabouts.

Following a lengthy trial, both Hammett and his accomplice, Joshua Howell, were convicted of murder and carrying an offensive weapon. The judge has mandated mandatory detention for life, with the minimum term to be determined at their upcoming sentencing.

The brutal nature of the crimes and the ongoing gang feud have raised concerns about safety and security in the area, with residents and officials calling for stronger measures to address the escalating violence. The sentencing of Hammett and Howell is expected to bring some closure to the tragic events that have shaken the community.
