Teenager charged with murder after deadly shooting at Atlanta McDonald’s during dispute over missing food

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – New details are emerging in the shooting death of a woman at an Atlanta McDonald’s. Tamanika Woods, a mother of four, was fatally shot inside the restaurant on Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. just days after Christmas. Police responded to the scene on Dec. 27 and found Woods, who was rushed to the hospital and later pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.

A 19-year-old T’Niya Evans, the alleged shooter, was held at the scene by a witness until police arrived. Evans has since been charged with Woods’ murder. According to Evans’ arrest warrants, the incident that led to the shooting began as an argument over missing food, with Evans and her sisters confronting a McDonald’s employee about their order.

Woods, who was a friend of the worker, came to her defense during the argument, the warrants say. The situation escalated when one of Evans’ sisters started fighting, and Evans was seen in surveillance footage pulling a gun from her waistband and firing a single shot at Woods. Evans is being held without bond in the Fulton County Jail on charges of murder, child cruelty, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm. She is scheduled to appear before a Fulton County judge next week.

The tragedy at the Atlanta McDonald’s serves as a sobering reminder of the consequences of conflict escalation and the devastating impact of gun violence. The details of the deadly altercation shed light on the need for effective conflict resolution and the continued efforts to address the prevalence of firearms in violent incidents. As the community mourns the loss of Tamanika Woods, her tragic death serves as a heartbreaking example of the ongoing challenges related to gun violence.
