Buffalo, N.Y. – An unfortunate incident unfolded late Saturday night in Buffalo, claiming the life of a 14-year-old girl in a mass shooting that also left five other teenagers injured, aged between 14 and 16. The tragic event took place in a parking lot behind the Neighborhood Housing Services of South Buffalo on Alexander Place.

The Buffalo police reported that the shooting occurred following reports of a large house party with hundreds in attendance, initially responding to noise complaints and a fight at 1500 Jefferson Avenue. Subsequently, officers were alerted to shots being fired in the same vicinity around 11:10 p.m., leading to a follow-up report of a person shot approximately eight minutes later.

Tragically, the young female victim was transported to Oishei Children’s Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Described as an outgoing, funny, and talented individual by a family member, she was remembered as an exceptional football player with a radiant smile that could light up an entire room.

The aftermath of the shooting saw a 15-year-old boy, as well as three other males, being taken to ECMC for medical assistance. The 15-year-old boy remains in critical condition, while a 16-year-old boy grazed by a bullet chose to decline treatment at the scene. As of Sunday afternoon, the perpetrator responsible for the senseless act is still at large, prompting urgent pleas from Mayor Byron Brown and Buffalo Police for their surrender.

While the investigation continues, the community remains in shock and grieving the loss of a young life. Reporter Derek Heid visited the neighborhood to capture the somber sentiment of residents, many of whom expressed sympathy for the victim’s family but refrained from speaking on camera due to safety concerns with the shooter still unidentified.
