Teenage Boy in Custody After Fatal Shooting in South Kansas City Home

Kansas City, Missouri – A teenage boy has been taken into custody by the Kansas City police in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred in south Kansas City on Tuesday night.

Officers were called to a residence on Corrington Avenue just north of Grandview around 7:30 p.m. Authorities found a man at the scene with fatal gunshot wounds, along with a woman and another teenage boy who were also shot. Both individuals are currently in critical but stable condition at a local hospital, as confirmed by police spokesperson Officer Alayna Gonzalez on Wednesday.

The teenage suspect was apprehended later on Wednesday afternoon and is currently being held at the county juvenile justice center in downtown Kansas City. Multiple witnesses who were present at the scene reported seeing the shooting, including several young children who were escorted away by relatives as police barricaded the area.

Detectives suspect that there may have been other individuals involved in the shooting, with KCPD stating that they believe the injured teen played a role as well. In order to gather more information, the Kansas City police are offering up to $25,000 for anonymous tips related to the incident.

The victim’s identity has not been disclosed to the public. This tragic incident marks the 48th homicide in Kansas City for the year, based on data collected by local sources. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events that led to this deadly confrontation in the community.
