Wildwood, Florida – A tragic incident unfolded in the quiet town of Wildwood, Florida, where a teenage boy stabbed another teen to death and injured an adult during a violent ambush at a sleepover, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The attack occurred late Saturday night at a home in Wildwood, where deputies responded to find a 15-year-old boy and an adult with stab wounds. The 15-year-old was hosting a sleepover when the assailant, identified as 16-year-old Alexander Warren Hernandez, showed up unannounced and violently forced his way into the residence.
Despite efforts to subdue Hernandez, he attacked the 15-year-old victim, Connor Michael Gill, and then turned his aggression towards another individual who came to investigate the altercation. After the violent events unfolded, Hernandez fled the scene on foot but was soon apprehended with the help of a sheriff’s office helicopter, still in possession of the murder weapons.
Both victims were airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, with Gill tragically succumbing to his injuries while the adult victim continued to receive care. Hernandez was subsequently taken into custody and charged with premeditated first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and armed burglary.
Authorities revealed that both Gill and Hernandez were homeschooled students who had withdrawn from Sumter County Schools. During a press conference, Sumter County Undersheriff Pat Breeden described the attack as premeditated, detailing how Hernandez had ordered the weapons online, received them on the day of the incident, and traveled a significant distance to carry out the assault.
As investigations continue, authorities are considering additional charges against Hernandez, while seeking to establish the motive behind the violent attack.
