Montgomery, Ala. — Authorities have arrested a second individual, 19-year-old Jo’Terrion Tucker, in connection with the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old girl in Montgomery, as announced by police Major Saba Coleman. Tucker, a resident of Prattville, faces three counts of capital murder following the incident which occurred late last month.
The distressing episode unfolded in the early hours of May 31, shortly before 2:30 a.m., in the 4100 block of Keating Drive. The young victim was swiftly transported to a Montgomery hospital, and subsequently transferred to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries on June 7.
Details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting have been closely guarded by the police, who have not yet released the name of the deceased minor. However, jail records revealed that the critical incident occurred while the victim was inside a vehicle, a detail that has contributed to the capital charges.
Earlier in the week, police disclosed that a 15-year-old boy was also apprehended on charges of capital murder in connection with this case. His arrest, made by the combined efforts of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and Montgomery police, linked him to the same tragic event.
Tucker was taken into custody by the same task force and local police on Thursday. He was booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility by the afternoon and is currently being held without bond.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about youth violence and gun control within the community. Local authorities and community leaders are expected to address these issues promptly, seeking measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
As the legal process unfolds, the community is left grappling with the grim reality of a young life lost and the broader implications for public safety and the welfare of its young citizens. The case continues to develop, and further details will likely emerge as court proceedings get underway.
