STOCKTON, Calif. — A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Victor Daniel Govea Sebastian, a 30-year-old Stockton resident, earlier this month, authorities reported Saturday. The shooting took place on May 23, leading to an investigation that ultimately identified the suspect.
On the night of the incident, police responded to reports of gunfire in the 2400 block of East Main Street shortly before midnight. Upon arrival, officers discovered Govea Sebastian suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite the immediate efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led detectives to Efrain Hinojoza, who was apprehended in a coordinated effort with the U.S. Marshals Task Force. Hinojoza was booked into the San Joaquin County jail, facing charges of homicide.
