Suspect Arrested in Connection with Brutal Murder of Socialite Starlet Wahu Mwangi in Nairobi Apartment

Nairobi, Kenya – A suspect has been arrested in connection with the tragic murder of 26-year-old socialite Starlet Wahu Mwangi, whose lifeless body was found in an Airbnb in South B, Nairobi. Wahu, the younger sister of a controversial evangelical pastor, was last seen entering the Airbnb with the suspected murderer on January 3.

A postmortem examination revealed that Wahu had been strangled and had suffered a deep cut wound on her thigh, resulting in fatal blood loss. The security guard at the apartment noticed the man leaving the following day with bloodied clothes and a noticeable injury on his leg. When the owner of the Airbnb arrived, they found Wahu’s naked body in the sitting room, indicating signs of struggle.

The police recovered a knife, two HIV test kits, and one used condom from the scene. Makadara police boss Judith Nyongesa stated that the suspect had cut the woman’s vein, leading to her death, and had subsequently fled the scene. However, the suspect was later apprehended at a city hospital seeking medical attention.

According to the suspect, the deceased woman had attacked him, resulting in a fatal altercation. The CCTV footage recorded Wahu entering the apartment with a man, depicting their arrival and subsequent interactions. The motive behind the murder is currently under investigation.

In a court appearance on Friday, the police successfully obtained custodial orders to hold the suspect for 21 days. The autopsy results and CCTV footage will likely play a crucial role in the ongoing probe, shedding light on the events leading to Wahu’s tragic death.
