Suspect Arrested in Anna Meza Cold Case Murder After Six Years, Family Seeks Closure

SAN JACINTO, CA – After six and a half years of mourning the unsolved murder of Anna Meza, her family and friends finally see a glimmer of hope for closure as a suspect is arrested in connection to her death.

On November 12, 2017, 31-year-old Anna Meza was tragically shot and killed in broad daylight on a street in San Jacinto. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department recently announced the arrest of a suspect after an extensive investigation into the cold case.

Daniel Acevedo Cortez, 27, was apprehended by the sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit during a traffic stop. Following a review by the district attorney, second-degree felony murder charges were filed against Cortez. He is currently being held at the Robert Presley Detention Center on $1 million bail, awaiting his court date set for Wednesday.
