Canandaigua, NY — Seven individuals have been apprehended and charged with murder in the tragic killing of Sam Nordquist, a 24-year-old transgender man originally from Minnesota. Disturbingly, among those recently detained is the son of a previously charged suspect. Discovered deceased in a field in Yates County last week, Nordquist’s demise was reportedly preceded by months of ill-treatment and torture, according to local police.
Among the accused are Kimberly Sochia, 29, of Canandaigua, and Thomas Eaves, 21, of Geneva, both facing charges of second-degree murder predicated on depraved indifference. The grim set of events that led to Nordquist’s death has profoundly affected those close to him. Kayla Nordquist, the victim’s sister, expressed her dismay to local media, troubled by the sheer number of individuals implicated.
