Bozeman, Montana – Mark Estes, a member of the popular TikTok group the Montana Boyz, was accused of felony assault back in February 2021 after an altercation with a group of students, as reported exclusively by Page Six. The incident, which resulted in one of the alleged victims being hospitalized, involved Estes and his friends getting into a brawl with another group of students off-campus while he was a student at Montana State University.
Despite the violent nature of the incident, no immediate arrests were made as everyone involved had left the scene by the time law enforcement arrived. The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the injured parties were already at the hospital when the police were informed about the altercation.
The public information officer involved in the case revealed that he recommended charging Estes with felony assault and misdemeanor assault, citing evidence that pointed to Estes being one of the aggressors in the altercation. However, the County Attorney’s Office decided not to press charges against Estes, deeming the incident as a case of “mutual combat.”
Following the incident, Estes transferred schools, moving from Montana State University to Montana Tech. Despite the allegations, Estes continued to rise in prominence on social media, gaining fame for his lip-synching videos with his friends Winterburn and Wilcox, collectively known as the Montana Boyz.
Estes also made headlines for his relationship with “Hills” alum Kristin Cavallari, with whom he shares a 12-year age gap. The couple went public with their relationship in February and have reportedly become “pretty serious,” with Estes even meeting Cavallari’s children from her previous marriage.
While details regarding the status of the injured student’s health remain private, the public information officer noted that penalties were imposed by Montana State University on Estes and the other students involved in the altercation.
The influence of the incident does not seem to have hindered Estes’ social media success, as the Montana Boyz now boast over a million followers across their various platforms. Despite the controversy, Page Six was unable to obtain comments from Estes, Cavallari, or their representatives regarding the allegations.
