Serial Killer Rex Heuermann Charged in Deaths of Two More Women, Expanding Timeline by Decades

SUFFOLK COUNTY, Long Island – The suspected serial killer, Rex Heuermann, facing charges in the Gilgo Beach murders, has now been implicated in the deaths of two additional women. These new charges extend the timeline of the murders by nearly two decades. Heuermann, aged 60, is accused of the 2003 homicide of Jessica Taylor, whose remains were discovered both near Gilgo Beach and in a wooded area in Manorville, further east on Long Island.

Furthermore, he has also been charged in connection with the death of Sandra Costillo, whose murder had previously been attributed to someone else. Costillo’s remains were found in North Sea, within the town of Southampton, indicating a substantial expansion of the timeline in Heuermann’s alleged series of killings. Recent searches in the woods in Manorville and North Sea, as well as Heuermann’s residence in Massapequa Park, have led to the recovery of evidence, resulting in these new charges.

Court documents reveal horrific details of Taylor’s demise, indicating she was decapitated and her arms were severed from her body. Investigators suspect Heuermann intentionally mutilated her remains to impede identification. Notably, DNA evidence recovered from Taylor’s body, specifically from a surgical drape, played a crucial role in linking Heuermann to the crime. Additionally, phone records indicated Heuermann’s family was out of state at the time of Taylor’s murder, providing him with the opportunity to carry out the heinous act without fear of discovery.

Moreover, prosecutors used DNA evidence to connect Heuermann to Costillo’s death, a woman originally from Trinidad and Tobago. The investigation has also unveiled Heuermann’s disturbing collection of violent, bondage, and torture pornography, dated back to 1994. These images allegedly correlated with the discoveries of the remains of Costillo, Taylor, and another victim, Valerie Mack.

Heuermann, a former New York City architect, pleaded not guilty to all murder charges and is currently held without bail. The case has initiated a broader investigation that has led to the discovery of at least 11 sets of human remains in Suffolk County, including those of the four women Heuermann is accused of killing. All the victims’ remains were found near Gilgo Beach along Ocean Parkway. The story of Heuermann’s alleged crimes continues to unfold, revealing the chilling details of a complex and disturbing case.
