Residential Shooting in Lane County Leaves One Dead, Suspect in Custody

EUGENE, Ore. – A tragic incident unfolded in a residential neighborhood in Eugene, Oregon, where Lane County deputies responded to a reported shooting that left two individuals injured. The violence erupted on Cinnamon Avenue, leading to a chaotic scene as law enforcement officials rushed to the scene.

Reports indicated that at around 3:40 p.m. on April 24, deputies were alerted to shots being fired in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman, later identified as Melissa Holland, with a gunshot wound. Tragically, Melissa Holland succumbed to her injuries, marking a devastating turn of events for the community.

The suspect, described as leaving the scene in an older silver SUV, evaded authorities initially. Eugene Police Department swiftly took action, closing down Willagillespie Road and Valley River Drive as they worked to secure the area and locate the responsible individual. Law enforcement officials found the suspect barricaded in an apartment nearby, prompting swift action to ensure the safety of the community. With the assistance of Eugene police SWAT, the suspected shooter, identified as Izyk Paul Bartlett, 20, was located and apprehended without further incident. Bartlett now faces serious charges, including first-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault, and illegal possession of a firearm.
