Real Estate Agent Severely Injured in Traumatic Dog Attack in Broome, Western Australia

Broome, Western Australia – A terrifying dog attack has left a well-known real estate agent in Broome, Western Australia, in a wheelchair with severe leg injuries. The incident occurred during a property visit, where Tony Hutchinson was viciously set upon by two dogs he described as resembling pit bulls or American Staffordshire terriers. Hutchinson, unable to walk and still recovering, recounted the harrowing experience that left him fearing for his life.

During the attack, Hutchinson found himself on the ground with one dog clamped onto his leg while another dog aggressively approached, with a third dog nearby. In a desperate attempt to escape, a colleague created a diversion, allowing Hutchinson to scramble onto the bonnet of a car to evade further harm. Despite his efforts to defend himself, Hutchinson sustained seven wounds on his legs and was left with torn clothes and scratch marks on his car.

Neighbors in the area expressed concern over the same two dogs previously biting a man and attacking another dog, heightening fears that a child could be the next victim. Hutchinson labeled the attack as “extremely traumatic,” warning that if the situation is not addressed, it could result in a fatality.

The Shire of Broome has initiated an investigation into the incident, with Hutchinson emphasizing the importance of responsible dog ownership. Reflecting on his 38 years in the real estate industry and the first violent encounter with dogs during his career, Hutchinson urged dog owners to be mindful of the unpredictability of their pets’ behavior towards others.

As Hutchinson continues to recover from his injuries, he hopes that his story serves as a cautionary reminder for dog owners to take necessary precautions to prevent such horrifying situations from reoccurring. Despite the physical and emotional toll of the attack, Hutchinson remains steadfast in advocating for increased awareness and accountability within the community regarding pet ownership.
