Pierce County Man Survives Axe Attack in Terrifying Assault by Alleged Assailant

Tacoma, Washington – A Pierce County man narrowly escaped death in a chilling incident involving a random ax attack last month. Serena Marcy now faces attempted murder charges for her alleged involvement in two separate assaults on March 29. The attack on the victim, Jeremy Gist, near the 1100 block of South Highland Avenue left him with severe injuries after being struck directly in the face by the assailant.

Witness Kisa Harris described Marcy’s attack as relentless, mentioning how she swung the ax at Gist like a massive, serrated knife. Gist managed to call 911 as Marcy slashed his face, resulting in shattered bones, a prominent facial indent, and fractures extending to the top of his skull. The severity of his injuries prevented him from appearing on camera.

Not long after the initial attack, Tacoma police responded to another distress call involving Marcy. This time, a stabbing turned carjacking took place on Ruston Way, where she allegedly attacked an Uber driver, stabbing him in the neck and chest before stealing his vehicle. The injured driver was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

Harris revealed that Marcy’s intentions seemed to go beyond theft, indicating that she was on a mission to kill. The traumatic event has had a lasting impact on Gist’s life, with Harris expressing deep emotional distress over the situation. She described Gist as her world and fiancé, lamenting the uncertainty caused by mounting medical bills and the threat of eviction.

For those interested in supporting Jeremy Gist’s recovery, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to assist with his medical expenses and ongoing care. The community has rallied behind Gist in hopes of aiding his journey towards healing and justice in the aftermath of the harrowing incident.
