Person of Interest in Custody After Woman Choked, Raped with Belt in Bronx Incident: Sources

The Bronx, New York – Police sources revealed that a person of interest was taken into custody on Saturday in connection to a disturbing incident where a woman was choked with a belt and raped on a Bronx street. The violent attack occurred near 152nd Street and Third Avenue, with a suspect previously identified as Kashaan Parks, 39 years old. It was not immediately clear what charges Parks faced following the assault.

Video footage of the attack shows the 45-year-old victim walking down the street when the suspect approached her from behind and used a belt to strangle her. The assailant, whose face was covered with a white towel, then forcefully dragged the unconscious woman along the sidewalk and into the street between parked cars before committing the heinous act. Authorities believe that a potential prostitution deal may have led to the violent assault.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny mentioned that Parks and the victim were known to each other from the neighborhood, with the victim identifying Parks by his distinctive gap in teeth. Shockingly, the victim was later arrested for petit larceny but did not report the rape incident. The investigation was initiated after a Bronx police officer recognized the woman from the viral video.

This unfolding story highlights the importance of community awareness and law enforcement intervention in cases of violence against women. As more details emerge, there will likely be updates on the legal proceedings against the suspect and the victim’s recovery process. Stay tuned for further developments in this ongoing investigation.
