Nashville, Tennessee – A tragic shooting incident at a restaurant in Nashville left one person dead and seven others injured on Sunday. The Metro Nashville Police Department reported that the shooting took place at Roasted Salemtown around 3:03 p.m. CDT.
Sgt. David Hazzard of the Metro Nashville Police Department mentioned that three ambulances transported multiple individuals with gunshot wounds and graze wounds to nearby hospitals for treatment. Updates from the police department revealed that the suspected shooter, identified as Anton Lamike Rucker, 46, is a convicted felon who is currently being sought in connection with the incident.
The victim who lost their life in the shooting was identified as 33-year-old Allen Beachem. The altercation that led to the shooting reportedly began during a Sunday brunch at Roasted Salemtown, where two individuals engaged in an argument that escalated into violence. One of the individuals involved in the argument is believed to have pulled out a gun and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
In addition to the fatality, five others sustained gunshot wounds that were deemed non-life-threatening, while another person suffered a graze wound. A total of eight individuals were transported from the scene, including those injured as well as one person who experienced a panic attack and requested to go to the hospital.
The incident has deeply affected the community, with Mayor Freddie O’Connell expressing his sorrow over the violence that disrupted their Easter celebrations. Detectives are currently investigating the motive behind the shooting and the events leading up to the tragic incident.
Roasted Salemtown, previously known as The Local Distro, is a popular spot in the Salemtown and Germantown neighborhood where the shooting occurred. The restaurant had hosted a brunch event earlier that day, featuring a disc jockey and dancing, before the violence erupted.
Witnesses in the vicinity, including a group of mothers at a nearby playground, recounted hearing the gunshots and reacting swiftly to protect themselves and the children in their care. The community is still reeling from the shocking turn of events, and it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
