The neighbor responsible for the shooting will not face the death penalty, according to prosecutors. Mindy King, a friend of the pastor, Nick Davi, shared her sentiments with 8 News Now, talking about the kind and gentle nature of the deceased pastor.
Nick Davi, a husband and father, is being mourned by those who knew him best. The incident, which occurred on December 29, 2023, was captured on video by the couple’s daughter, showing the harrowing moment when Nick and his wife, Sarah Davi, were shot by their neighbor. Tragically, Nick lost his life in the shooting, while Sarah survived.
The neighbor, Joe Junio, is facing multiple charges, including open murder with a deadly weapon, attempted murder, child abuse involving a deadly weapon, and reckless discharge of a firearm. The Davi family has also taken legal action by filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Junio.
Reports indicate that tensions between Junio and the Davi family had escalated after the Davi’s reported her behavior to their homeowner association and had to call the police on two occasions. A restraining order was also filed before the tragic incident occurred. Attorney James Urrutia, representing the Davi family, expressed relief that Junio is currently in jail, ensuring the family’s safety.
Efforts were made to prevent Junio from posting bail, and the District Attorney later revoked her bail. As the family copes with the nightmare of their loss, the focus shifts to honoring Nick’s memory. Junio has entered a plea of not guilty and is scheduled to appear in court on March 26.
